Looks like Anand Singh, director of a cricket academy in Jaipur has a special liking towards filmstars.
Remember he was the man who had accused Shahrukh Khan and Irrfan Khan for smoking in public places ? Now he’s targeted two other celebrities who have made a name for themselves in the cricketing world.
Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra co-owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals have been accused of fraud. According to Anand Singh, he was cheated by the two celebrities for Rs.8 lakhs in the name of a cricket talent hunt contest.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate No.9 has asked Anand Singh to appear before it on May 14 and depose before any action is initiated on his complaint.
Veteran actor Dharmendra seems to be getting younger with age. The 77-year-old has done a Punjabi rap for the title track of his upcoming film “Yamla Pagla Deewana 2″. He has also sported a rockstar-look for it.
A glimpse of this song has already been incorporated in the movie’s theatrical trailer, which was unveiled in March.
Sharib Sabri, who has composed the song with his brother Toshi, said the song is special.
“For the first time, we will be seeing Dharamji doing Punjabi rap on the screen. His rapper look, with the rings on his fingers, is really special in this song,” he said.
The entire cast of the film — Dharmendra’s sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, as well actors Neha Sharma, Kristina Akheeva and Annu Kapoor — will be part of this song, composed by Sharib and Toshi and choreographed by Caesar Gonsalves, said a statement.
Neha says the veteran star’s energy and enthusiasm on the set were age-defying.
“Dharamji was the youngest Deol on the sets during the making of this song. The coolest things to do were given to him. He has these hot ladies sitting around him in the video, which is a cute moment,” she said.
The title track of “Yamla Pagla Deewana 2″ will be released in May, while the film will hit the screens June 7.
For the original 2011 film “Yamla Pagla Deewana”, Dharmendra had done energetic moves in the song “Tinku jiya”.

Actor Emraan Hashmi, who shot a music video with Altaf Raja, came up with quirky steps for himself and the singer during the shoot.
Titled “Jholuraam”, the song describes Emraan’s character in the film and it was shot in Mumbai over the weekend. A source close to the team told IANS that Emraan came up with quirky steps for himself and Altaf Raja during the shoot.
Director Rajkumar Gupta admits that the song will reflect the actor’s creative inputs.
“Emraan is a real professional actor. He has great insight into things. It was his idea to carry the look he has in the film for the music video and I have to say that has worked wonders,” Gupta said in a statement.
“He always comes up with suggestions that are really helpful. He is totally invested in ‘Ghanchakkar’ and when you see the music video of ‘Jholuraam’ featuring him and Altaf Raja, you will see Emraan’s touch in it too,” added Gupta.
The Bollywood’s perfectionist Aamir Khan was once told that he won’t last long in the Bollywood industry, can you believe that?
The man who has given Bollywood mega hits like Taare Zameen Par, 3 Idiots, says that due to his ‘one film at a time approach’ industry people often told him that his career will be over soon.

Aamir began as a child actor at the age of eight in Nasir Hussain’sYaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) and ‘Madhosh‘ (1974). Eleven years later, he made his acting debut as an adult in Ketan Mehta’s ‘Holi‘ (1984) that went unnoticed. The actor’s first notable leading role came in 1988 in the film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which was directed by his cousin and Nasir Hussain’s son Mansoor Khan.
The actor has completed 25 years in the film industry and given notable performances in films like Dil, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke, Andaz Apna Apna, Rangeela, Ghulam, Sarfarosh, Earth, Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai, Sarfarosh, Rang De Basanti, Fanna, Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini, 3 Idiots and others.
“I am happy and surprised to complete 25 years in the industry. When I was new I was not aware where and how my career will head. I was told an actor’s life is of five years as public then gets bored of seeing them,” said Aamir Khan.
Aamir Khan admits that he chooses a film from his heart and he doesn’t do movies to achieve name, fame, money and doesn’t really care much which banner is making the movie.
“My this mantra to do a film has been questioned by many people in the industry. I remember industry people telling me that I would be out of this industry soon due to my one film or less films approach, and that my method was not right. People had lashed out at me and my way of working. But I never got deterred and followed what my heart said,” he said.
Coffee can do much more than just wake you up. The caffeine in 2 cups of coffee can improve verbal processing speed, according to a new study. Researchers believe that this boost in verbal speed and accuracy is related to the release dopamine, a neurotransmitter stimulated by caffeine intake. In scathing criticism of the government's alleged interference in the CBI probe into the allocation of coal blocks, the Supreme Court today asked the  director of the investigating agency to file an affidavit stating the changes made in the draft report vetted by law minister Ashwani Kumar. The court termed as "very disturbing" the CBI's affidavit that it shared its  report with the law minister. Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi reacted by saying the court's remarks were 'not pleasant for any dispensation'.

According to media reports Shahrukh Khan starrer ‘Chennai Express’ and Akhsay Kumar starrer ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again – 2’ will not be released in Pakistan on Eid Day (8th August, 2013).
Distributors and exhibitors in Pakistan have decided not to release these films and instead four Pakistanis films will be released on this Eid. ‘Mein Hoon Shahid Afridiwhich is made by Humayun Saeed, Josh (starring Amina Sheikh and his huband Mohib Mirza), ‘Ishq Khuda’ and ‘Waar’ will be released. Indian producers are not happy with this black out of Indian films as it will cause around Rs. 200 million losses.
However there are chances that both the films will be released on 15th August, a week later but piracy would certainly reduce the revenue of both films. A large section of people in Pakistan have always protested against screening of Indian films in Pakistan. Pakistan legend actor Nadeem also criticsed screening of Indian films and was of the view that it is against Pakistan’s culture.

MINGORA – Militants who tried to kill Malala Yousafzai have strengthened the resolve of schoolgirls to attend school, her friends said.
Girls who saw a gunman shoot the 14-year-old pro-education activist and two schoolmates on their bus in Mingora October 9, contrary to the militants’ expectations, are not backing down on their hopes and dreams of getting an education.
“The clear proof of our bravery is that – when the attackers asked us 'Who among you is Malala?' – none of us replied seconds before (the shooter) began firing,” one of the other two injured girls, said 10th-grader Shazia, who is recovering from bullet wounds to her shoulder and neck.
The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)’s claim of responsibility bears no meaning for us, she said.
“We know the Taliban militants 'execute' their opponents,” she said. “We know that only the Taliban can do this uncivilised act of attacking girls.”
They and their families remember the atrocities the Taliban committed during the militants’ two-year reign of terror (2007-2009) in Swat. Atrocities like killing women; bombing mosques, schools and funeral ceremonies and displaying foes’ severed heads, she said.
“I was neither scared the moment when the gunmen approached us, nor am I now, because we went to school (anyway) when Swat was under the Taliban and thousands of students had opted to stay home,” she recalled.
“This (attack) cannot dent our determination, and the only weapon is to arm girls with education and defeat guns with pens,” said Kanat, the third girl injured in the shooting. “We will continue education to accomplish Malala’s mission.”
There’s no looking back for her, she told Central Asia Online from her bed, adding she plans to become a doctor.
TTP tactics won’t deter girls
The TTP want to frighten students into abandoning school, but won’t succeed, said Asma Ali, a physics teacher at Malala’s school. Students showed their defiance when they turned up in droves for the October 12 morning assembly to pray for Malala.
The credit for that attitude belongs to Malala, she said, adding, “Our students aren’t afraid.” The attempted murder of Malala, a 14-year-old Mingora resident who blogged in 2009 under a pen name for the BBC Urdu service about the Taliban’s abuses, has aroused widespread debate in Pakistan but has not shaken the resolve of girls in Mingora.
“If we feared the Taliban, we couldn’t get education; therefore, we are totally oblivious to the Taliban’s attacks,” said Spogmay, a 7th-grade girl who was on Malala’s bus.
"It was like hell. For a moment, I thought we would not survive, the way (the gunman) fired at us indiscriminately,” Spogmay said. Shazia expressed hope for Malala’s recovery.
“I am sure that the scales of justice would tip in our favour and ever-smiling, brave and intelligent Malala will regain health very soon,” Shazia, Malala’s best friend, said, adding the students would rally around Malala to ensure women’s education in the future. “I will give my life in exchange for Malala’s. Losing a friend like her is unbearable.” Shazia recalled how Malala persuaded the girls to attend schools in the Taliban era.
“Malala used to tell us they should wear veils in compliance with the Taliban’s directives ... but shouldn’t remain absent,” she said. “We have promised Malala that we should fight the Taliban with pen and books and I will keep that promise even at the cost of my life,” Saeeda, an 8th-grade student at the same school, said.
Malala told the girls on a daily basis that “The Taliban are the enemy of humanity and Islam. We should stand up against them to thwart their efforts aiming to bar women from schools,” Saeeda said. Malala’s approach kept up the courage of all 500 girls at the school, Saeeda said.
“My parents advised me to stay home during the Taliban’s rule, but I had promised Malala that I will never miss school,” she said. “All the people must pray for Malala. She is the beacon of hope for millions of girls.”
Parents equally determined
Fathers of Malala’s schoolmates were determined not to let the Taliban chase their daughters from the schools.
“She is extremely concerned about education and has been asking different questions,” Shazia’s father, Muhammad Ramzan, said. “But I prevailed upon her that everything will be right, and they would be in school again.” Ramzan said he worried over Malala’s condition as if she were his own daughter. “I am a proud father because my daughter has proved that she is not afraid of anyone,” he said.
Jamil Shah, Saeeda’s father, said he would stand by his daughter through thick and thin and would spare no effort to ensure that she gets an education.
KARACHI – The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Cantonment Board of Clifton (CBC) have tightened security measures to pre-empt militancy, targeted killings and organised crime in Karachi, officials told Central Asia Online April 5.
"We have increased patrolling of vigilance teams, set up pickets ... and are also co-ordinating with police and Rangers to take timely action against the outlaws," Karachi DHA Security and Vigilance Director Brig. (ret.) Azhar Manzoor told Central Asia Online.
"With the support of law enforcement agencies, we have searched the Badar Commercial Area in DHA, leading to the recovery of weapons and arrests of several now being interrogated for alleged involvement in militancy, killings and street crimes," he said.
The DHA is not a law enforcement agency, but it is gathering information about criminal activity and relying on police and Rangers to make the arrests. "Our mobile and vigilance teams monitor the [neighbourhood] around the clock, and they immediately call the police or Rangers when they see any unlawful activity in their area," he said.
Tensions in the Defence area have been high since a September 2011 Pakistani Taliban attack on Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Chaudhry Aslam's house that killed eight people. Aslam survived unharmed.
The increased focus on security is paying off, officials say.
"We have arrested scores of outlaws from the Defence area in collaboration with the DHA and CBC and are interrogating them for their alleged involvement in militancy, killings, kidnapping for ransom, robberies and mobile phones snatching," Imran Shaukat, senior superintendent of police and spokesman of Karachi police, told Central Asia Online April 5. "We will carry out raids in different areas in Defence to round up the elements playing with the lives and property of the people."
The Sindh caretaker government has given a "free hand" to the law enforcement agencies, allowing them to maintain peace in the city, he said, adding that the intensified search operations, arrests of hundreds of suspected militants and criminals, and the recovery of weapons visibly have improved the law-and-order situation in Karachi in recent weeks. The caretaker government is in office until the May 11 general election.

DHA increases use of closed-circuit cameras, raids sheesha parlours

One measure the DHA is taking is to increase the number of closed-circuit cameras (CCCs), Manzoor told Central Asia Online. It already had installed CCCs in some areas but now is installing more.
The DHA neighbourhood has 59 main entrance and exit points that mobile teams and cameras have to monitor, he said, and teams are monitoring them.
In another collaborative effort with police, the DHA has prompted raids on three sheesha parlours (hookah smoking cafés) that young adults and teens have been frequenting.
During the raids, authorities sealed the cafés and DHA officials warned the youngsters not to return to such establishments, he said.
Smoking cafés have been gaining popularity in the area, concerning the DHA, residents and parents who don't want their children addicted to the expensive pastime, Manzoor said.
The DHA will continue to close down the cafés to discourage this culture of smoking in youth, he added.

Political, ethnic activism no longer welcome

The CBC also is acting against unlawful political and ethnic activism, CBC spokesman Aziz Suharwardy told Central Asia Online, adding that such activism could lead to terrorist attacks, clashes and violence.
CBC laws ban such groups, but political parties having strong support in the previous government have protected them, he said.
"In the past the CBC had been facing political pressure to keep the offices and activities within the boundaries of the CBC," he said April 3.
The caretaker government has decided to discourage the activities of political parties, including ethnically based ones, in Defence and the CBC teams are now able to do their job with the support of law enforcement agencies, he added.
Now that those groups don't have political support, it is easier for the CBC to involve law enforcement agencies and take action, Suharwardy said.
"We will take every legal measure that strengthens security," he added.

America's blacks voted at a higher rate than other minority groups in 2012 and by most measures surpassed the white turnout for the first time, reflecting a deeply polarized presidential election in which blacks strongly supported Barack Obama while many whites stayed home.
Had people voted last November at the same rates they did in 2004, when black turnout was below its current historic levels, Republican Mitt Romney would have won narrowly, according to an analysis conducted for The Associated Press.
Census data and exit polling show that whites and blacks will remain the two largest racial groups of eligible voters for the next decade. Last year's heavy black turnout came despite concerns about the effect of new voter-identification laws on minority voting, outweighed by the desire to re-elect the first black president.
William H. Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution, analyzed the 2012 elections for the AP using census data on eligible voters and turnout, along with November's exit polling. He estimated total votes for Obama and Romney under a scenario where 2012 turnout rates for all racial groups matched those in 2004. Overall, 2012 voter turnout was roughly 58 percent, down from 62 percent in 2008 and 60 percent in 2004.
The analysis also used population projections to estimate the shares of eligible voters by race group through 2030. The numbers are supplemented with material from the Pew Research Center and George Mason University associate professor Michael McDonald, a leader in the field of voter turnout who separately reviewed aggregate turnout levels across states, as well as AP interviews with the Census Bureau and other experts. The bureau is scheduled to release data on voter turnout in May.
Overall, the findings represent a tipping point for blacks, who for much of America's history were disenfranchised and then effectively barred from voting until passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965.
But the numbers also offer a cautionary note to both Democrats and Republicans after Obama won in November with a historically low percentage of white supporters. While Latinos are now the biggest driver of U.S. population growth, they still trail whites and blacks in turnout and electoral share, because many of the Hispanics in the country are children or noncitizens.
In recent weeks, Republican leaders have urged a "year-round effort" to engage black and other minority voters, describing a grim future if their party does not expand its core support beyond white males.
The 2012 data suggest Romney was a particularly weak GOP candidate, unable to motivate white voters let alone attract significant black or Latino support. Obama's personal appeal and the slowly improving economy helped overcome doubts and spur record levels of minority voters in a way that may not be easily replicated for Democrats soon.
Romney would have erased Obama's nearly 5 million-vote victory margin and narrowly won the popular vote if voters had turned out as they did in 2004, according to Frey's analysis. Then, white turnout was slightly higher and black voting lower.
More significantly, the battleground states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida and Colorado would have tipped in favor of Romney, handing him the presidency if the outcome of other states remained the same.
"The 2012 turnout is a milestone for blacks and a huge potential turning point," said Andra Gillespie, a political science professor at Emory University who has written extensively on black politicians. "What it suggests is that there is an `Obama effect' where people were motivated to support Barack Obama. But it also means that black turnout may not always be higher, if future races aren't as salient."
Whit Ayres, a GOP consultant who is advising GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, a possible 2016 presidential contender, says the last election reaffirmed that the Republican Party needs "a new message, a new messenger and a new tone." Change within the party need not be "lock, stock and barrel," Ayres said, but policy shifts such as GOP support for broad immigration legislation will be important to woo minority voters over the longer term.
"It remains to be seen how successful Democrats are if you don't have Barack Obama at the top of the ticket," he said.
------
In Ohio, a battleground state where the share of eligible black voters is more than triple that of other minorities, 27-year-old Lauren Howie of Cleveland didn't start out thrilled with Obama in 2012. She felt he didn't deliver on promises to help students reduce college debt, promote women's rights and address climate change, she said. But she became determined to support Obama as she compared him with Romney.
"I got the feeling Mitt Romney couldn't care less about me and my fellow African-Americans," said Howie, an administrative assistant at Case Western Reserve University's medical school who is paying off college debt.
Howie said she saw some Romney comments as insensitive to the needs of the poor. "A white Mormon swimming in money with offshore accounts buying up companies and laying off their employees just doesn't quite fit my idea of a president," she said. "Bottom line, Romney was not someone I was willing to trust with my future."
The numbers show how population growth will translate into changes in who votes over the coming decade:
-- The gap between non-Hispanic white and non-Hispanic black turnout in 2008 was the smallest on record, with voter turnout at 66.1 percent and 65.2 percent, respectively; turnout for Latinos and non-Hispanic Asians trailed at 50 percent and 47 percent. Rough calculations suggest that in 2012, 2 million to 5 million fewer whites voted compared with 2008, even though the pool of eligible white voters had increased.
-- Unlike other minority groups, the rise in voting for the slow-growing black population is due to higher turnout. While blacks make up 12 percent of the share of eligible voters, they represented 13 percent of total 2012 votes cast, according to exit polling. That was a repeat of 2008, when blacks "outperformed" their eligible voter share for the first time on record.
-- White voters also outperformed their eligible vote share, but not at the levels seen in years past. In 2012, whites represented 72 percent of total votes cast, compared to their 71.1 percent eligible vote share. As recently as 2004, whites typically outperformed their eligible vote share by at least 2 percentage points. McDonald notes that in 2012, states with significant black populations did not experience as much of a turnout decline as other states. That would indicate a lower turnout for whites last November since overall voter turnout declined.
-- Latinos now make up 17 percent of the population but 11 percent of eligible voters, due to a younger median age and lower rates of citizenship and voter registration. Because of lower turnout, they represented just 10 percent of total 2012 votes cast. Despite their fast growth, Latinos aren't projected to surpass the share of eligible black voters until 2024, when each group will be roughly 13 percent. By then, 1 in 3 eligible voters will be nonwhite.
-- In 2026, the total Latino share of voters could jump to as high as 16 percent, if nearly 11 million immigrants here illegally become eligible for U.S. citizenship. Under a proposed bill in the Senate, those immigrants would have a 13-year path to citizenship. The share of eligible white voters could shrink to less than 64 percent in that scenario. An estimated 80 percent of immigrants here illegally, or 8.8 million, are Latino, although not all will meet the additional requirements to become citizens.
"The 2008 election was the first year when the minority vote was important to electing a U.S. president. By 2024, their vote will be essential to victory," Frey said. "Democrats will be looking at a landslide going into 2028 if the new Hispanic voters continue to favor Democrats."
------
Even with demographics seeming to favor Democrats in the long term, it's unclear whether Obama's coalition will hold if blacks or younger voters become less motivated to vote or decide to switch parties.
Minority turnout tends to drop in midterm congressional elections, contributing to larger GOP victories as happened in 2010, when House control flipped to Republicans.
The economy and policy matter. Exit polling shows that even with Obama's re-election, voter support for a government that does more to solve problems declined from 51 percent in 2008 to 43 percent last year, bolstering the view among Republicans that their core principles of reducing government are sound.
The party's "Growth and Opportunity Project" report released last month by national leaders suggests that Latinos and Asians could become more receptive to GOP policies once comprehensive immigration legislation is passed.
Whether the economy continues its slow recovery also will shape voter opinion, including among blacks, who have the highest rate of unemployment.
Since the election, optimism among nonwhites about the direction of the country and the economy has waned, although support for Obama has held steady. In an October AP-GfK poll, 63 percent of nonwhites said the nation was heading in the right direction; that's dropped to 52 percent in a new AP-GfK poll. Among non-Hispanic whites, however, the numbers are about the same as in October, at 28 percent.
Democrats in Congress merit far lower approval ratings among nonwhites than does the president, with 49 percent approving of congressional Democrats and 74 percent approving of Obama.
William Galston, a former policy adviser to President Bill Clinton, says that in previous elections where an enduring majority of voters came to support one party, the president winning re-election -- William McKinley in 1900, Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1936 and Ronald Reagan in 1984 -- attracted a larger turnout over his original election and also received a higher vote total and a higher share of the popular vote. None of those occurred for Obama in 2012.
Only once in the last 60 years has a political party been successful in holding the presidency more than eight years -- Republicans from 1980-1992.
"This doesn't prove that Obama's presidency won't turn out to be the harbinger of a new political order," Galston says. "But it does warrant some analytical caution."
Early polling suggests that Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton could come close in 2016 to generating the level of support among nonwhites as Obama did in November, when he won 80 percent of their vote. In a Fox News poll in February, 75 percent of nonwhites said they thought Clinton would make a good president, outpacing the 58 percent who said that about Vice President Joe Biden.
Benjamin Todd Jealous, president of the NAACP, predicts closely fought elections in the near term and worries that GOP-controlled state legislatures will step up efforts to pass voter ID and other restrictions to deter blacks and other minorities from voting. In 2012, courts blocked or delayed several of those voter ID laws and African-Americans were able to turn out in large numbers only after a very determined get-out-the-vote effort by the Obama campaign and black groups, he said.
Jealous says the 2014 midterm election will be the real bellwether for black turnout. "Black turnout set records this year despite record attempts to suppress the black vote," he said.

Congressional Republicans said Sunday that President Obama must stick with his vow to take action should Syria cross a “red line” by using chemical weapons on citizens, amid such mounting evidence, but cautioned against sending in troops.
"The president has laid down the line, and it can't be a dotted line,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., told ABC’s “This Week.” “It can't be anything other than a red line.”
U.S. officials said last week that the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad probably used chemical weapons twice in March, amid a two-year civil war in which more than 70,000 people have been killed and hundreds of thousands more displaced.
“For America to sit on the sidelines and do nothing is a huge mistake," Georgia Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss told CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
Arizona Sen. John McCain has been among congressional Republicans most critical of the president’s stance on Syria.
He argued on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the red line strategy has given Assad a “green light” to do almost everything up to that point -- including the use of missiles, helicopter attacks and other civilian strikes that have resulted in “atrocities on a scale that we have not seen in a long, long time.”
However, he joined a bipartisan call this weekend against sending  U.S. troops into Syria.
"The worst thing we could do is put boots on the ground," McCain said.
He and fellow Hill lawmakers fear the chemical weapons could be more dangerous in the hands of U.S. enemies or those who might overthrow Assad. And he joined in calls for the United States to be part of an international force to safeguard the weapons.
“The day after Assad [leaves] is the day that these chemical weapons could be at risk,” Chicago Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky told ABC. “We could be in bigger, even bigger trouble.”
Maryland Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin urged Sunday afternoon on Fox against sending troops, saying that’s exactly what the Assad regime wants.
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina, also said the U.S. could safeguard the weapons without a ground force. But he said the weapons must be protected from getting into the hands of enemies.
"The next bomb that goes off in America may not have nails and glass," he told CBS, referring to the April 15 Boston Marathon bombing in which three people were killed and more than 260 others were injured.
Obama has also said Assad transferring the stockpile of weapons to terrorists would also cross the line.
The assessment that Syria used chemical weapons last month followed similar conclusions from Britain, France, Israel and Qatar -- key allies eager for a more aggressive response to the Syrian conflict.
The United States is already providing humanitarian aid and non-lethal support to Syrian opposition forces.
Obama has insisted that any use of such weapons would change his thinking about his country’s role in Syria but said he didn't have enough information to order aggressive action.
"For the Syrian government to utilize chemical weapons on its people crosses a line that will change my calculus and how the United States approaches these issues," Obama said Friday.
Both sides of the civil war accuse each other of using the chemical weapons.
The deadliest such alleged attack was in the Khan al-Assal village in the Aleppo province in March. The Syrian government called for the United Nations to investigate alleged chemical weapons use by rebels in the attack that killed 31 people.
Syria, however, has not allowed a team of experts into the country because it wants the investigation limited to the single Khan al-Assal incident, while U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has urged "immediate and unfettered access" for an expanded investigation.

New measurements suggest the Earth's inner core is far hotter than prior experiments suggested, putting it at 6,000C - as hot as the Sun's surface.
The solid iron core is actually crystalline, surrounded by liquid.
But the temperature at which that crystal can form had been a subject of long-running debate.
Experiments outlined in Science used X-rays to probe tiny samples of iron at extraordinary pressures to examine how the iron crystals form and melt.
Seismic waves captured after earthquakes around the globe can give a great deal of information as to the thickness and density of layers in the Earth, but they give no indication of temperature.
That has to be worked out either in computer models that simulate the Earth's insides, or in the laboratory.
X-ray vision Measurements in the early 1990s of iron's "melting curves" - from which the core's temperature can be deduced - suggested a core temperature of about 5,000C.
"It was just the beginning of these kinds of measurements so they made a first estimate... to constrain the temperature inside the Earth," said Agnes Dewaele of the French research agency CEA and a co-author of the new research.
X-ray diffraction setup at ESRF Iron samples were subjected to enormous pressures before being probed with a spray of intense X-rays
"Other people made other measurements and calculations with computers and nothing was in agreement. It was not good for our field that we didn't agree with each other," she told BBC News.
The core temperature is crucial to a number of disciplines that study regions of our planet's interior that will never be accessed directly - guiding our understanding of everything from earthquakes to the Earth's magnetic field.
"We have to give answers to geophysicists, seismologists, geodynamicists - they need some data to feed their computer models," Dr Dewaele said.
The team has now revisited those 20-year-old measurements, making use of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility - one of the world's most intense sources of X-rays.
To replicate the enormous pressures at the core boundary - more than a million times the pressure at sea level - they used a device called a diamond anvil cell - essentially a tiny sample held between the points of two precision-machined synthetic diamonds.
Once the team's iron samples were subjected to the high pressures and high temperatures using a laser, the scientists used X-ray beams to carry out "diffraction" - bouncing X-rays off the nuclei of the iron atoms and watching how the pattern changed as the iron changed from solid to liquid.
Those diffraction patterns give more insight into partially molten states of iron, which the team believes were what the researchers were measuring in the first experiments.
They suggest a core temperature of about 6,000C, give or take 500C - roughly that of the Sun's surface.
But importantly, Dr Dewaele said, "now everything agrees".
Sea surface temperatures in the Northeast Continental Shelf reach highest level in 150 years

According to the NOAA's Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), the sea surface temperatures (SSTs) in the Northeast Shelf Large Marine Ecosystem have drastically increased to the highest level in the last 150 years in 2012.
With rising temperatures, melting ice caps in the Arctic and record-setting melting rates of ice in the Antarctic Peninsula, NOAA's NEFSC has an addition to the list: the rising temperature at the sea surface of the Northeast Continental Shelf reached the highest level in more than a century, last year. According to the report, the sea surface temperature in the Northeast Shelf Ecosystem reached a record-setting 14 degree Celsius in 2012, which is the highest since 1951.

The measurements of the sea surface temperatures were done via both contemporary satellite remote-sensing data and ship board measurements dated since 1854. The data shows that the temperature has increased more than one degree Celsius only five times, and the SST in 2012 saw the highest increase.
Recently, a tendency of above-average temperatures have been observed during summer and spring seasons, and these high sea surface temperatures are the latest additions to this observation. It is also part of a pattern of elevated temperatures taking place in the Northwest Atlantic.
Increasing temperatures at the sea surface can cause damage to marine life and the distribution of species into different regions, which will heavily impact fisheries. As the effects of rising SST is concerned, black sea bass, summer founder, longfin squid and butterfish have already migrated to the north, while American lobsters are also moving north at a slow pace.
"Changes in ocean temperatures and the timing and strength of spring and fall plankton blooms could affect the biological clocks of many marine species, which spawn at specific times of the year based on environmental cues like water temperature," said Kevin Friedland, a scientist in the NEFSC Ecosystem Assessment Program, in an interview with Phys.org. "The size of the spring plankton bloom was so large that the annual chlorophyll concentration remained high in 2012 despite low fall activity. These changes will have a profound impact throughout the ecosystem."
The report shows that the rise in the SST is currently observed in the Northwest Atlantic and not in other ocean basins. Michael Fogarty, who heads the Ecosystem Assessment Program, said that these rising temperatures change the ecosystem, and eventually everyone must adapt to these changes.
