The road connecting Jauhar Mor with Jauhar Chowrangi in
Gulistan-i-Jauhar has now been named after a late Jamaat-e-Islami leader Prof.
Ghafoor Ahmed. Now the road will be called Prof Ghafoor Ahmed Road. This was
stated by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) notification.
It is to mention here that may MQM supporters work in KMC and according to our sources it was decision of MQM Karachi leadership to name the said road of Gulistan-i-Jauhar on the name of Prof Ghafoor Ahmed to give him tribute. Gulistan-i-Jauhar is a stronghold of MQM but still MQM name the road in the name of former Jamaat-e-Islami leader which is laudable. Prof Ghafoor died on 26th December 2012.
KMC notification also says that the Jinnah Terminal Flyover has been named after former Sindh governor Mahmoud A. Haroon who remained governor from 1990-1993 and from 1994-1995. Mahmoud Abdullah Haroon was chairman of Dawn Media Group.
