Two polio workers gunned down in Swabi

SWABI: Unidentified gunmen shot dead two male anti-polio workers here on Sunday.Superintendent of Police Mian Saeed Ahmad said that two gunmen opened fire on the male vaccinators, Aziz Muhammad and Muhammad Shiraz Khan, in Kandaro Banda in Pabbini village. He said the anti-polio campaigners were killed on the spot.

“We have arrested four suspects and have launched an investigation into the incident,” he said, adding that the attackers were on foot and armed with pistols.”

It was learnt that after the attack on the polio workers, the remaining teams were asked to suspend the anti-polio campaign till further orders. The three-day anti-polio vaccination campaign was inaugurated on Friday.
