Former Pakistani first class cricketer Fawad Ahmed was rushed into Australia A team for the tour of Britain. Fawad Ahmed is becoming favorite to get selected in Australian national team for the Ashes series.
Fawad Ahmed, 31, chances to play for Australia when a bill to amend the Citizenship Act, which will help fast-track his application, passed through Australia’s lower house of parliament. Currently Fawad will be eligible to play from Australia on 18th August according to International Cricket Council’s Player Eligibility Criteria. Whereas ICC Player Eligibility Criteria is not applicable in when picked for A team therefore Ahmed was selected in Australia A team.
Australian spin legend Shane Warne has also backed Fawad and he belived Ahmed can become an unlikely Ashes hero. Fawad has played Abbottabad, Pakistan Customs, Melbourne Renegades and Victoria. In 13 first class matches he has played Ahmed has bagged 39 wickets at an average of 32.20.
